A seat with personality
Designed by Pierluigi Cerri in 1982, the Ouverture sofa is a design icon that combines geometric rigour with an unprecedented idea of comfort. Inspired by industrial architecture, it stands out for its visual lightness and a perfect balance between structure and softness, making it ideal for both sophisticated domestic environments and contract spaces with a strong character. The heart of the design is the “T” shaped supporting beam, a distinctive element that seems to be suspended thanks to a skilful play of joints between crossbars and seat. The metal structure, painted with matt black epoxy powders, dialogues with the softness of the upholstered cushions, creating a refined material contrast that emphasises the encounter between technology and comfort.
The design is enriched with sartorial details that enhance its personality: the buttons on the backrest, a tribute to 1980s design and traditional upholstery, add a sophisticated graphic touch. The cushions, with removable covers in leather or fabric, are filled with goose down and polyester wadding, with a polyurethane foam core to ensure non-deformability and ergonomic support. Essential yet cosy, Ouverture is a manifesto of formal cleanliness and wellbeing, where construction precision translates into an experience of absolute relaxation.
