Geometries in motion
The subtle charm of the see-through
Designed by Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau, the Lloyd storage and bookcase system redefines the concept of modularity with a light and sophisticated elegance. A variable geometry, able to adapt naturally to different needs, transforming space through a refined play of transparencies and volumes. The design is based on a grid of thin wooden rods, arranged vertically and free to slide on invisible horizontal tracks. A fluid and dynamic movement that creates alternating solids and voids, light and shadow, allowing a glimpse of the content without ever fully revealing it. The result is a perfect balance between technology and tradition, with fine materials such as oak and leather giving solidity and refinement without compromising visual lightness.
Each grill is a masterpiece of cabinet-making, made of solid oak with rods of different thicknesses, hand glued one by one to ensure stability and aesthetic harmony. Lloyd's versatility is expressed in its double core: in the centre of the room version, the grilles slide on both sides, while in the wall-mounted version the back is closed by a matt black MDF panel. The base, available in solid oak or painted steel, emphasises the contrast between craftsmanship and innovation, making Lloyd a sculptural and functional presence, perfect for sophisticated and constantly evolving environments.
