Noble patronage

For an evergreen classic

Custom-designed by Renzo Frau for Filiberto Ludovico di Savoia, Duke of Pistoia, the 1919 armchair owes its name to the year of its creation and is today one of Poltrona Frau's greatest classics. An icon that elegantly reinterprets the bergère model, enriching it with tailoring details and a refined capitonné on the backrest, an expression of timeless craftsmanship. Its enveloping lines and soft shapes invite you to relax, while the meticulous workmanship enhances its exclusive character. Distinctive elements include the original extension for supporting the feet and the small armrest, which was created to support the ashtray of the Duke, a well-known cigar aficionado. Today this detail is transformed into a versatile cup holder or ashtray saucer, adapting with ease to contemporary needs.
