Vintage inspirations
Carl Hansen & Søn has a dual soul: on one hand it reproduces the most important works of the famous Danish mid-century masters - Hans J. Wegner, Ole Wanscher, Frits Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Kaare Klint, Mogens Koch and Poul Kjærholm - while maintaining a strong link with the past and tradition; on the other hand, it constantly expands its collections by collaborating with contemporary designers, faithful to the fundamental principles of Danish modernity: simplicity, functionality and craftsmanship.
What unites all the designers who collaborate with the brand is respect for thoughtful design and the strong link with the connection of their predecessors, which inspire them to create objects capable of becoming new style and furniture icons. This is how “the great classics of tomorrow” were born, the most innovative and modern Danish creations, conceived by Thomas Bo Kastholm, the multidisciplinary artist Naja Utzon Popov and the designer Anker Bak.
Thanks to recent international collaborations with the Japanese architect Tadao Ando and the trio of Austrian designers EOOS, the company has enriched its collection with works that combine tradition and innovation, sustainability and performance, pushing technology and its potential beyond the limits. Aesthetics and functionality
The craftsmanship of the Danish company, already in the 50s, experienced international success thanks above all to its prolific production of chairs, considered sophisticated, beautiful and comfortable. The seats made for the brand by the famous designer Hans J. Wegner are particularly honored: at least a hundred models, including the limited edition CH24 Wishbone Chair, the famous CH07 Shell Chair and the beautiful CH33 T Dining Chair. With their bold lines, pure shapes and attention to details these chairs are considered the true icons of Scandinavian design.

Carl Hansen & Søn rationalizes the use of wood and reuses the minimum waste it produces as fuel in a district heating plant that supplies heat to more than 400 local homes in Gelsted, Denmark.
