A century of furniture
Porro is an Italian company known internationally for its ability in working and transforming wood using innovative and cutting-edge techniques. All these abilities give rise to a wide range of prestigious furniture products with an essential design: Porro creations have simple lines, sober and elegant shapes that can be adaptable to any public and private environment. The brand is available at mobilnovo showrooms, Porro official dealer.
The culture of furniture
Porro writes its history together with great names, starting with the architect Giulio Moscatelli that in the 50s designed the company's new laboratory, continuing with Bruno Munari and arriving, in the mid 80s, at Piero Lissoni who assumes the art direction and signs some authentic bestsellers, such as the Ferro table.
In the 80s Porro entered the international arena by participating in renowned design exhibitions, such as the Cologne furniture fair, starting a corporate era marked by collaboration with the well-known German designers Werner Aisslinger and Wolfgang Tolk. The company is now oriented towards a design full of contaminations and different cultural approaches. The brand establishes a fruitful partnership with other foreign and Italian artists as of Christophe Pillet, Jean Marie Massaud, le Front, Alessandro Mendini, Soda Designers, Gamfratesi, Piergiorgio Cazzaniga, Neri & Hu and Elisa Ossino.
There are many salient events that contribute to making Porro's story special, starting with the many awards received: EDIDA, ELLE DECO INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS, for the Gentle chair "Best Seating 2013", for the Mikado sideboard the "Best Furniture 2014 "and with the Pascal table by Piero Lissoni the Archiproducts Design Awards 2019. Noteworthy and original is the way in which Porro celebrated, in 2015, the company's 90th birthday: an unprecedented and limited collection of spinning tops in wood designed by Piero Lissoni.
90 years of excellence
In the world of furnishings and accessories, Porro stands out for its innate ability to use ancient woodworking techniques in a modern key, such as carving, curving and inlaying, giving shape to objects of the highest quality: wardrobes, beds, bookcases, containers, seats, tables and accessories. Every creation synthesizes the unique and distinctive features of the brand, that is, the refinement of the lines and the technical perfection of finishes and details.
The geometric shapes and essential lines tell the prestigious collections of Porro sofas and armchairs, composed of different pieces of strong artistic identity, such as the Lullaby lounge armchair by Nicola Gallizia, a tribute to the Bauhaus and its ideal of harmonious fusion between artistic creation and industrial production.
A game of volumes and surfaces, Porro tables are built with different types of wood expertly combined and finished down to the smallest detail. The result of so much mastery are creations that can be admired, lived and shared in the living room or in the office. The beauty and elegance of the shapes are the protagonist in wooden or marble tables.
The Pivot movable walls designed for the brand by Decoma Design separate, divide and furnish with class. Rotating on a hinge, they can be a wall, door, partition or - more simply - conceal a bookcase or walk-in closet.
Porro's design vision starts from a careful study of space and its optimization, and this clearly emerges from its articulated and complete furnishing systems. Modern, the modular storage system with a flexible soul, thanks to its rigorous shapes defined by essential lines, redesigns the space with multiple composition possibilities for the dining, living and working areas. Porro declines its idea of freedom of movement also in the bedroom where it transforms the concept of traditional wardrobe with Storage, a modular system that adapts to the space in which it is inserted with infinite compositions.
